Total eclipse of the Sun
Node created on White Crystal Dog - Solar Moon - Seli 9.23
13 Moons Cosmic Seed Year 9
Today, Gregorian 29.03.2006 (White Crystal Dog - Solar Moon 23), a total eclipse of the Sun will be visible from within a narrow corridor which traverses half the Earth. The path of the Moon's umbral shadow begins in Brazil and extends across the Atlantic, northern Africa, and central Asia where it ends at sunset in western Mongolia. A partial eclipse will be seen within the much broader path of the Moon's penumbral shadow, which includes the northern two thirds of Africa, Europe, and central Asia.
The eclipse starts in Brazil where it can be observed from sunrise on 29 March.
Countries either side of the total eclipse path experience a partial eclipse.
The previous total solar eclipse in 2003 was only visible from Antarctica. However, many more people saw 2005's annular eclipse.
Africa
The eclipse sweeps into Africa from the Atlantic and moves rapidly north-east.
The instant of greatest eclipse is just inside Libya at 1010 GMT.
The shadow then moves on through Turkey towards Asia.
Asia
The eclipse crosses Turkey and Central Asia before ending at sunset in Mongolia.
The partial eclipse should be visible in some other parts of Asia, the Middle East southern Europe and Africa.
The next eclipse will be on 22 September 2006 and will be annular rather than total.
